Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration About Sizing Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
